If you have some dents and dings or are new to credit, a catalog or store credit card could be your start to a good credit standing or get you back on track. Catalog cards tend to be more willing to take a chance on someone with a lower credit score than traditional credit cards.
Make no mistake, however, the effect on your credit report should you default is just as negative as a conventional credit card – so use your store credit account responsibly!
